FAQ

General Matters of FG beads

Are the sizes of FG beads all equal?

The sizes are 0.2 μm. The CV value indicating variation is approximately 30%.

What is the linker length of FG beads?

It is about 1 nm.

What is the number of particles per 1 mg of FG beads?

It is about 1.8×1011 particles.

What is the number of particles per 1 mg of HM beads?

It is about 3.8×1011 particles.

What is the number of particles per 1 mg of FS beads?

It is about 0.3×1011 particles.

What is the number of particles per 1 mg of FF beads?

It is about 1.8×1011 particles.

What types of the FG beads are there?

Currently, we sell 13 types of FG beads with different functional groups. We are constantly developing other lineups.
In addition to FG beads, we also have 4 types of highly magnetically responsive beads (HM beads) and 12 types of fluorescent beads.

What is the approximate quantity of the functional groups on FG beads?

The amount of epoxy on FG Plain beads is 1 μmol per 1 mg of beads. The amount of functional groups on FG COOH beads and FG NHS beads is 200 – 300 nmol per 1 mg of beads.

Are the FG beads resistant to heat?

There are no problems up to approximately 70℃. However the type of beads having high functional reactivity of the linker end may come under an influence by the heat.
Also, beads with immobilized ligand (protein or compound) can be denatured if the ligand is not heat resistant.

Are the FG beads resistant to pH?

The beads themselves have no problem up to pH 2 to 11, but the beads with immobilized ligands (proteins and compounds) may denature and degrade the ligands, resulting in decreased performance.

Is there the resistance to organic solvents of FG beads in addition to DMF?

In addition to DMF, the ligand can be immobilized on the surface of FG beads with various organic solvents such as methanol, DMSO, THF, ethyl acetate, pyridine, dioxane, toluene, dichloromethane and chloroform.

Please refer to the paper.

Can the FG beads be reused?

It is believed that the beads can be reused when salt elution, drug elution, and acid elution was performed. However boil elution causes degeneration of the FG beads and makes it impossible for them to be reused.

How should one select a bead type?

Select according to the type of ligand (compound, antibody, protein, DNA) to be immobilized. You can select the best product from each application page.

Beads do not collect on the magnet.

FG beads cannot be magnetically separated in organic solvents. Magnetic separation is not possible even in water in the absence of salt or depending on the buffer composition. First of all, please check the buffer composition.

How long should I spin down?

The purpose of spin down is to drop the beads attached to the lid of the tube. Please do it with a flash (several seconds to 5 seconds).

Is it possible to manufacture beads with particle sizes other than those in the lineup?

We do not manufacture beads with particle sizes other than those in our lineup.
